Ngotso Lion Pride

Dark Mane of the Ngotso Lion Pride

It was rumored that originally there were seven sub-adults in the Ngotso Lion Pride, but two of them disappeared some time ago. What happened to them? One can only guess. Since 2021, the two Ngotso males have been under pressure from the Ratelpan males who were in and out of their territory. The Blonde Brother was last seen around June 2021 and is presumably dead. Now Dark Mane is on his own, and in the video, he is on patrol and probably looking for his dead brother.

Blonde Mane of the Ngotso Lion Pride

The Ratelpan males pushed out the two Ngotso males a while back. We haven’t seen the blonde male lately—last about June 2021—so we suspect he is no longer around. There was a recent sighting of the Dark Mane male and some of the subadults between Satara and Olifants around December 2021. So we think the blonde is dead.

Five young males of the Ngotso Lion Pride

Beautiful sighting of the five young Ngotso Pride Brothers. Two of the three lionesses (mothers?) in this video look in very bad shape, probably reaching the end of their lifespan.

Pride males of the Ngotso Lion Pride

The beautiful Dark Mane Ngotso Male Lion calls (Roaring) for his brother, Blonde, who was hurt in a Lion Fight after another male intruded on their territory. When his "hurt" brother returned, the huge male first marked their territory before showing affection to his brother by welcoming him back, and then...he went to sleep. Filmed on the H1-4 in Kruger National Park between Satara and Olifants Rest-Camps
