Southern Lion Pride Males

The Southern Pride males have taken over the N'wanetsi Lion Pride

The N’wanetsi pride, consisting of three older females and one younger lioness, was previously controlled by the old remaining Sweni male, and he was still seen with them and his five sons earlier this year. Over the last couple of months, some changes have been ongoing. The old Sweni male has not been seen recently, and a few of his sons spotted away from the pride may be ready to begin their own journey of becoming pride males. Just last month, the old remaining Shishangaan male was seen in the company of a N’wanetsi lioness for several days after losing his brother and territory to the Trichardt males. This left some questions about where the Southern pride males have been, as sightings have not been as frequent as usual. Just over a couple weeks ago, reports of lions mating on the S100 appeared, and it was the southern pride males with the N’wanetsi pride. They have since been frequently seen with them, and I caught up with them a few days ago, as can be seen in the video. It's a welcomed change as three of the lionesses from the N’wanetsi pride are quite old, so hopefully the Southern pride males can sire some new cubs, securing the N’wanetsi pride's legacy for many generations.
